So we did something we had not do in a long, long time, we went hiking. Now if you love hiking, you will love Peru’s Colca Canyon which is considered as one of the deepest canyons in the world.

The natural scenes and landscapes are really way beyond charming and attractive. The region is situated about 4300 meters above sea level so it’s easy to understand how high it is.

If you are thinking about visiting Colca Canyon for hiking, you will need to have several days on your hand for this is no short hike. Don’t try anything energetic at first if you want to ensure your safety.

You will have to stay in Arequipa first and visit the canyon from there. Try to buy the tickets early or book for travel as the tickets are really hard to find after 7am.

It takes three hours to reach Chivay from Arequipa and you will get to see lots of mountains and barren on the way. There are few hotels that offer cable TV, hot water all day and other luxuries.
