These are our basic survival instincts popping into our daily lives, the problem, if you see it as such, is that we do not have much need for adrenaline in day to day life, there is not much call for young men to protect their loved ones with strength of body (and sadly indeed well meaning attempts at protection end up in accidental injuries to those that you love), so we look to other outlets for this innate need that we have.

So we know the why, but it’s interesting to think that even though we are aware that our state of mind is based upon a series of unreliable feelings that are themselves governed by the chemicals that are released into our bodies, we still are bound to these realities, we are bound to repeat the mistakes of the past even though we know how and why they are made.

Adventure Travel is now a growing sector of the travel market and lot of tough playgrounds such as Mount Everest, Antarctica and the South Pole are now available for the less tough people. The improved technology for polar equipment is what increases the number of inexperienced people who are attracted to extreme adventures. So, if you are one who would like to climb the Everest or would like to spend a vacation at the Antarctic then by all means go ahead, it will be amazing.

Natural conditions too have a huge impact on the extent of thrill that an adventure can provide. Paragliding in clear skies is a very cool thing. However, to even think of gliding under cloudy and windy skies is a different thing altogether. Bungee jumping with rain falling on you can be a thrilling experience. A simple way to trigger adrenaline rush is to have a mindset to take risk. The ingredients that create adrenaline rush are uncertainty and thrill. Adventure sports or extreme sports have always been associated with adrenaline rush. Nevertheless different people get their rush of adrenaline from various activities. For some the state of success could be a reason for adrenaline rush, for others the realization that someone loves, and for a few it’s the completion of a difficult project. We are adventure seekers almost like archeologist or those people who search for red diesel, that is, we go wherever we believe adventure exists. We will try anything at least once. So we did something we had not do in a long, long time, we went hiking. Now if you love hiking, you will love Peru’s Colca Canyon which is considered as one of the deepest canyons in the world.

The natural scenes and landscapes are really way beyond charming and attractive. The region is situated about 4300 meters above sea level so it’s easy to understand how high it is.

If you are thinking about visiting Colca Canyon for hiking, you will need to have several days on your hand for this is no short hike. Don’t try anything energetic at first if you want to ensure your safety.

You will have to stay in Arequipa first and visit the canyon from there. Try to buy the tickets early or book for travel as the tickets are really hard to find after 7am.

It takes three hours to reach Chivay from Arequipa and you will get to see lots of mountains and barren on the way. There are few hotels that offer cable TV, hot water all day and other luxuries. If you don’t manage to reach there early, save your energy for the next day and take a short walk to see the town. You can purchase a map, walk solo or hire a local guide for hiking. If you are adventurous, you can try the longer treks.

While camping out, you have to protect yourself from mosquitoes and other insects that may be found near the camping area. You can also walk and bike with your family on the camp grounds and get a real feel for being outdoors.

To enhance your summer adventure catch some low cost flights to your destination and sight see different places. You can buy local souvenirs and stuff that your family likes. Take a tour around, interact with local people and learn about the history of places as you make your destinations.
